FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of 2-R-3-(5-X-furyl-2)-acrylonitriles of the general formula: where X is a hydrogen atom, lower alkyl or phenyl; R is a hydrogen atom or lower alkyl that are the parent compounds used in the synthesis of biologically active substances. Method involves an interaction of furylacrolein of the formula: where X and R have the said values with hydrazoic acid in chloroform medium in the presence of hydrated magnesium perchlorate of the composition Mg(CIO4)2•2,5H2O as a catalyst in the mole ratio of a corresponding furylacrolein, hydrazoic acid and catalyst = 1 : 1.1 : 1, respectively, in the boiling points range of hydrazoic acid onset point and then the chloroform boiling point up to ceasing nitrogen evolving.
