SUBSTANCE: introduction of functional group into isoolefin/alkylstyrene copolymer at carbon atom in its alkylbenzyl moiety involves preparation of this copolymer in hydrocarbon solvent, addition of alkali metal (Contains, K or Na) alkoxide and lithium alkyl compound to polymer solution to give superbase, to which basic polymer solution of an electrophilic compound is added. Invention also provides metallized copolymers and their functionalized derivatives.
