FIELD: electrical engineering, burning-through damaged insulation of power cable lines in order to locate point of damage. SUBSTANCE: proposed gear has rectifiers with capacitive ballast, power transformer which primary winding leads-out are connected to network terminals, choke with open magnetic core placed in circuit of primary winding of transformer, incorporating n secondary windings each placed in circuit of rectifier with one lead-out and with another lead-out with semistor. Rectifiers are connected in series. Second lead-out of first rectifier is connected to current pickup and to unit of comparators and lead-out of the last rectifier is connected to damaged cable conductor. Unit of comparators is connected to source of reference voltage and to unit forming control pulses which outputs are connected to control leads-out of triacs. EFFECT: reduced time of burning-through thanks to automatic switching-over of burning-through stages, maintenance of consumed current under rated value, enhanced efficiency of burning-through and gear. 1 dwg
