FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves combined (upsetting-shearing-twisting) plastic deformation pattern for at least part of blank under predetermined thermomechanical conditions; pressing blank through working tool in pressing channel without disturbing its continuity. Apparatus has working tool, which develops during processing of blank shear deformation force and provides volume plastic twisting of individual portions thereof. Method provides manufacture of blanks with predetermined physicomechanical properties and small-grain structure, including submicrocrystalline and nanocrystalline structure. Method allows expenses for blank processing to be reduced by using series-produced equipment and blanks from difficult-to-form and low-plasticity alloys of powder metals, and composite materials to be processed.
