FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical technology of preliminarily treating textile material, in particular to a method of whitening textile material of genuine fibers or their mixture with man-made fibers, or of synthetic fibers. Material is impregnated at 20-30 C with bleaching aqueous solution containing hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyethylidenediphosphonic acid-based composition, sodium methasilicate or silicate, sodium hydroxide, nonionic wetting agent based on oxyethylated fatty alcohols, and optical bleacher, in particular stilbene derivatives, after which material is squeezed, held in closed space during 18-48 h, washed, and dried. EFFECT: reduced power and steam consumption. 2 cl, 2 tbl, 9 ex
