TENSIONING APPARATUS Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: engine manufacture, namely engines with drive of subsidiary mechanisms by means of chain or belt. SUBSTANCE: apparatus for tensioning belts (chain) of drive of subsidiary mechanisms includes body, spring-loaded rod with braking reverse-stroke mechanism. Apparatus is provided with lugs having rubber-metallic articulation joints secured to rod and body respectively. Reverse stroke braking mechanism is in the form of wedge ball-type lock formed of ball pack, molded nut and elastic nut. Ball pack is forced to cone surfaces of body and rod. In addition apparatus includes wedging sleeve; one lug is chamfered for introducing wedging tool. Power spring is arranged outside rod and body. Elastic washer has radial openings whose number is equal to that of balls. Additional turning is provided in body for fixing apparatus in compressed state. Apparatus allows to tension belts or chains of subsidiary mechanisms independently upon viscosity characteristics of oil, it does not need strict angle value of operational position. EFFECT: simplified process for making, mounting and regulating apparatus due to high degree of part unification, possibility for changing belt of drive unit without dismounting tensioner from engine. 4 cl, 2 dwg
