FIELD: electronic printing equipment. SUBSTANCE: printing apparatus has carriage, type carriers mounted on carriage, type carrier shaft equipped with type carrier rotating member, and set of lifters for moving type carriers from storage position to printing position and vice versa. Type carrier is replaced together with type carrier shaft and rotating member. Carriage has several type carrier shafts, each shaft together with type carrier fixed thereto being permanently mounted on related lifter. Retraction from printing position of several members instead of one type carrier allows stored type carriers to be located close to printing position. Accordingly, dimensions and weight of apparatus are reduced. EFFECT: simplified construction and reduced time for replacement of type carriers. 2 cl, 3 dwg
