FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel method of synthesis of halide-substituted compounds of hydroxybiphenyl that are used for control of microorganisms. Method of synthesis of halide-substituted compounds of hydroxybiphenyl of the general formula (I) where m = from 1 to 2, for example, compounds of formulas (1a) or (1b) involves acetylation of corresponding halide-substituted benzene compound of the formula (4) with mainly acetyl chloride in the presence of Lewis acid on the first stage. On the second stage esterification of synthesized corresponding acetylated compound of the formula (5) is carried out with corresponding halide-substituted phenol compound of the formula (6) in alkaline medium usually using strong base, for example, NaOH or KOH. On the third stage oxidation of synthesized esterified compound of the formula (7) is carried out with m-chloroperbenzoic acid preferably, possible, in the presence of mixture of sodium borate and trifluoroacetic acid. On the fourth stage hydrolysis of synthesized oxidized compound of the formula (8) is carried out. Proposed method exhibits economy and ensures to inhibit undesirable by-side reactions. EFFECT: improved method of synthesis, good yield of compounds. 11 cl, 5 sch, 14 ex
