FIELD: radioactivity monitoring of environment, earthquake forecasting. SUBSTANCE: according to method sample of air purified from daughter products of radon is placed into chamber housing internal and external electrodes. Number of electric pulses caused by air ionization with alpha particles is recorded and concentration of radon in air is found. Potential barrier preventing daughter products of radon formed in chamber space from hitting external electrodes is created in chamber. Device for implementation of method includes ionization chamber with internal and external electrodes. Internal electrodes are positioned close to surface of external electrode, in parallel one another, at distance of 1.0-10.0 mm from its surface.
