FIELD: medicine, in particular, injection equipment. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has preparation storage vessel, mechanism for feeding at least part of preparation from vessel through opening, attachment device for connecting vessel with said mechanism, sensory system for detecting at least one of predetermined properties of vessel or content thereof, radiation transmitter adapted for radiating vessel location or part thereof, radiation receiver adapted for receiving at least part of radiation area from radiation transmitter after radiation had been exposed to the effect of vessel location. Radiation receiver is adapted for generating response signal characteristic of total radiation received by said part of radiation area. Method involves stages of transmitting radiation toward location of vessel or part thereof so that radiation is exposed to the effect of vessel location; receiving at least part of radiation exposed to the effect of at least part of vessel location area by non-visualizing method; comparing characteristics of received radiation with predetermined characteristic associated with predetermined property for determining whether or not said property is available in said vessel. Apparatus and method may be used under ambulatory conditions due to reliable control system. EFFECT: increased efficiency and enhanced reliability in operation. 89 cl, 6 dwg
