METHOD OF AND DEVICE FOR PACKING FLAT PIECE ARTICLES Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering, automotive, paper, petrochemical, graphic arts, food and other industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to packing of different articles, such as cylinder head gaskets of internal combustion engines and other flat articles. Method provides for wrapping said articles with packing material using special device comprising crossmember with pins installed for turning. Simultaneously with packing of each following article, starting from first one, pile of articles is formed by putting each following article on surface of upper coil of packing material each time turning of crossmember through 180^° and stopping, each article and pile as a whole being wrapped in material in four planes. Prior to removing the pile, packing material is cut off along one of its vertical planes with forming of articles pile in which each article is wrapped in three planes. Proposed device has support of article to be packed with possibility of its displacement, means for feeding packing material and wrapping means for providing circumferential motion of feeding means. Support and wrapping means are made in form of crossmember with two guides and pins for stacking articles and winding of packing material furnished with turning mechanism and knife for cutting off packing material mounted on one of pins. Feeding means comprise packing material unwinding unit, deflecting roller and brake. Proposed method and device simplified packing of articles and provides reliable packing and easy re-adjustment of equipment for packing articles of other type.
