FIELD: measurement technology; estimation of tension force of flexible drawn articles, such as wire, string and the like. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes forming measuring section of fixed length of flexible article being drawn by deflection of this section from trajectory of drawing remaining part of article by at least two supporting members, for example rollers or dies fitted on diametrically opposite sides of flexible article being drawn at fixed distance between them. Then, parametric transversal mechanical vibrations of measuring section of fixed length of flexible article being drawn arising in drawing due to fluctuations in tension force are converted into electrical signal which is amplified and lower harmonic component of amplified signal is separated, frequency of separated lower harmonic component of electrical signal is measured and tension force is determined on basis of measured frequency in accordance with known dependence.
