FIELD: water treatment. SUBSTANCE: stabilization treatment is intended for use to prevent precipitation of calcium carbonate from natural and waste waters. Excess of calcium carbonate is precipitated on fluidized-state contact medium preliminarily covered by manganese oxide film. The latter operation is accomplished by alternate treatment of contact medium with 10% manganese chloride and 1% potassium permanganate solution. EFFECT: reduced calcium carbonate precipitation time leading to decreased geometric dimensions and volumes of structures providing fluidization of contact medium in ascending flow of water under treatment (vortex reactors, cleansers, and others). 1 tbl
