FIELD: cleaning domestic waste water; biological activation cleaning of waste water; cleaning waste water by activated sludge in suspended stage. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes delivery of waste water to equalizing reservoir filled with activated sludge followed by pumping water to activation reservoir and then to settler, transfer of sludge from activation reservoir to equalizing reservoir, stoppage of operation for definite period of time and discharge of cleaned water; device works in two modes: direct mode and reverse mode; direct mode is longer as compared with reverse one; cleaned water is fed from settler to chamber provided with porous filter wherefrom it is delivered to outlet reservoir. Equalizing and activation reservoirs are provided with level sensors; as soon as level in equalizing reservoir drops below preset magnitude, operation is discontinued for period of time remaining after direct mode. After delay, device is switched-on automatically for reverse pumping of waste water from activation reservoir to equalizing reservoir till preset level has been obtained in equalizing reservoir, after which reverse mode is switched-off and operation of device is discontinued during period of time remaining after reverse mode; direct mode of operation is restored automatically. Device proposed for realization of this method includes equalizing reservoir filled with activated sludge and provided with waste water inlet, pump for delivery of water to settler and pump for transfer of sludge; settler is provided with sludge and cleaned water outlets and control unit; it has housing with cover for arrangement of equalizing and activation reservoirs which are provided with level sensors; said device is additionally provided with aeration chamber with porous filter and activated sludge stabilization chamber. Settler mounted in activation reservoir is made in form of truncated pyramid whose lesser base is directed downward and provided with discharge fitted with dampening baffle plate and closed with protective lip from below. Dampening baffle and lip are located above aerator of activation reservoir provided with biological charge and connected with settler having airlift and pump recirculating sludge to stabilization chamber equipped with coarse bubble aerator and overflow pipe line for discharge of excessive water and sludge to equalizing reservoir; settler is provided with coarse bubble aerator for dilution of biological film removed by air lift and overflow pipe line for discharge of cleaned water to chamber provided with porous filter, aerator, pump for transfer of cleaned water to outlet reservoir by means of overflow pipe line connected with accumulator mounted in equalizing reservoir and provided with air lift for transfer of water from accumulator to equalizing reservoir; water handling pump of equalizing reservoir is enclosed in coarse filter.
