FIELD: polymerization catalysts. SUBSTANCE: catalyst consists of nickel compound deposited on solvent-swelling polymer substrate in and organoaluminum compound as activator. Catalyst is distinguished by containing, as polymer substrate, reticularstructure carbochain rubber with swelling capacity 0.1 to 4.5 ml/g catalyst, aluminum-to-nickel molar ratio being 1-5 and content of nickel 0.2-2.2 wt %. Catalyst additionally contains waxy paraffin or olefin applied on the surface of catalyst in the form of strap. Catalyst can catalyze dimerization and oligomerization of not only pure C2-C6 olefins but also a variety of petroleumprocessing C2-C6 olefin fractions. EFFECT: simplified catalyst composition, increased productivity, and enabled catalysis of both olefin dimerization and oligomerization at good mechanical stability and chemical resistance. 2 cl, 1 tbl, 18 ex
