FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: olefins are subjected to dimerization and oligomerization in hydrocarbon solvent in presence of catalyst consisting of nickel compound deposited on polymer support swelling in hydrocarbon solvent. In particular, polymer support is reticular-structure carbochain rubber with swelling capacity in hydrocarbon solvent ranging from 0.1 to 4.5 ml per 1 g catalyst. Nickel concentration in catalyst is 0.2 to 2.2 wt % and aluminum-to-nickel ratio 1 to 5. C2-C9-Olefin fraction is used including olefin-containing refinery fractions.
