FIELD: medicine, cardiology. SUBSTANCE: method deals with treating alexithymia (that is, disorders in recognition and description of one's own feelings) in stenocardia-suffering patients. For this purpose, additionally to standard therapy at stenocardia, elderly patients aged 55-60 should be prescribed melatonin at the dose of 1.5 mg once daily and at night period for 10 d. The method leads to decreased level of alexithymia, improved sleep, absence of stenocardiac paroxysms at night period. EFFECT: higher efficiency of therapy.
