FIELD: devices for cleaning water through filtration and ion exchange. SUBSTANCE: proposed filter has filter element made in form of perforated support to which fittings are secured; said support is made from syntepon for example; secured on this support is ion exchange material forming solid porous article from microglobules, cylinder or cone, for example. Inlet surface of filter element is coated with additional filter layer of finely-dispersed agent. Method of manufacture of water filter includes preparation of reaction mixture of polymer-forming reagents and conducting the reaction for obtaining the filter element of required form. In preparing reaction mixture, first resorcine is dissolved in water and solution is heated to temperature of 40-50 C, after which catalyst is added and solution is mixed; after homogenization of solution, formalin is added; polymer solution thus obtained is poured in mold with perforated support and load-bearing fittings arranged in it beforehand. Then, mold is subjected to thermostatting conducted at two stages. Porous ion-exchange element thus obtained is extracted from mold and is placed in filter housing filled with suspension of finely-dispersed hydrophilic powder for forming additional protective filter layer on inlet surface of filter element.
