FIELD: mechanical engineering; engines. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for improved aerodynamic characteristics of axial-flow compressor. Said result is obtained by using stall fences in radial clearance between outer contour of wheel blades and housing which are profile in each point tangentially to absolute velocity. Height and solidity of stall fences are found experimentally by solving optimization problem with search of optimum of efficiency function. Stall fences make it possible to decrease air flow through radial clearance from blade pressure surface to suction face of blade and to provide uniform distribution of direction and absolute velocity values after working wheel. EFFECT: increased efficiency and head of stage of axial-flow compressor. 1 dwg
