WELDED BUTT JOINT AND METHOD FOR MAKING IT Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: welding, possibly jointing of reinforcement rods by means of electric arc welding in building constructions. SUBSTANCE: rods are arranged with gap equal to (0.1 - 2)dn. Strip covers are placed along rods and they are welded by lengthwise seams with length value (2 - 6.5)dn and by cross seams with length value (1.1 - 2.5)dn. At first cross seam is performed between ends of rods from one strip cover until another at extending along strip cover by value no less than 0.1 dn at welding up gap between rods. Then lengthwise seams from periphery to butt center are welded beginning from end of strip cover and extending by distance no less than 1 dn where dn - nominal diameter of butt welded rods. EFFECT: possibility for making equal-strength joint at lowered labor consumption. 8 cl, 11 dwg
