FIELD: veterinary science. SUBSTANCE: the present method includes single subcutaneous implantation of iodine at the dosage of 12- 21 mg/boar during the period when boars-breeders should be changed for winter keeping. Such quantity of iodine provides higher activity of thyroid gland for 210-240 d of usage by maintaining the level of iodine-bound protein in blood serum to be within a norm (463-499 nM/l). Application of the present method provides higher gemini by 7.3-9.4%, piglet's body weight by 3.2-4%, piglets quantity from 100 sows by 28.1- 28.6%. EFFECT: increased reproductive function. 2 tbl
