FIELD: impregnation compositions. SUBSTANCE: composition comprises at least one component serving as preservative or material, which upon heating releases component possessing properties of preservative, comprising water-in-oil emulsion comprising basic surfactant and amphoteric additive. Emulsion has pH value equal to or approximating isoelectric point of amphoteric additive. Composition is preferably used for wood preservation. Method involves providing emulsion acidity of required value by adding organic or inorganic acid or organic or inorganic base. EFFECT: increased efficiency in preserving porous materials, such as wood. 10 cl, 7 ex
