MARINE PROPULSOR Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2205773 C1

FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: proposed propulsor has body with fore fairing and drive rigidly secured in fairing for reciprocating motion of working member secured on rod of drive. Drive is made in form of hydraulic cylinder; blade mounted in propulsor body at spaced relation is used as working member. Fairing has holes and frame is rigidly secured in propulsor body before them. Plates with one arm and limiters of their turn are mounted in frame on hinges for overlapping each other, thus ensuring creation of thrust, i.e. advance of water craft at forward stroke of blade due to displacement of water from propulsor body at simultaneous filling of space between blade and frame through holes of fairing and frame when plates are close to horizontal position. At reverse stroke of blade, thrust is also created due to displacement of water from space between vertical wall formed by plates mounted on frame and blade through clearance between body and blade. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency due to avoidance of idling. 1 dwg
