FIELD: mechanical engineering; four- stroke internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed device contains at least one opening cam and two symmetrical closing cams for each valve arranged on engine camshaft at both sides of opening cam. Movable fork is mechanically coupled with valve. Vertical post and crossmember with lock are also provided. Upper and lower cross members of fork are provided with upper and lower profiled cam projections, respectively, which periodically interact with working surfaces of opening and closing cams. Lock is furnished with end pieces, made for fixing in its extreme upper position when valve is closed. Closing cam is furnished with wedge members for opening and closing of lock end pieces. Mechanical coupling of fork and valve contains sealing spring element installed with pre-tension in mechanical coupling. Invention contains description of design peculiarities of surfaces of opening and closing cams and methods of their manufacture. EFFECT: increased efficiency of engine, reduced consumption of fuel, increased torque at slow speeds and increased service life timing gear. 11 cl, 7 dwg
