FIELD: mechanical engineering; four-stroke internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed method of operation of gasoline internal combustion engine containing cylinder, piston, cylinder head, combustion chamber formed by surfaces of head and piston crown comes to reduction of standard volume of combustion chamber of engine put out by manufacturer and increasing compression ratio by decreasing distance between piston crown and surface of combustion chamber opposite to piston crown. Magnetic Kc of combustion chamber volume reduction coefficient is determined as ratio of volume of reduced-size combustion chamber to volume of standard -size combustion chamber. Then passage section of intake duct for working charge is decreased by value multiple of Kc and intake valve stroke is reduced providing reduction of delivery of working charge into cylinder by value multiple of Kc. Then exhaust valve stroke is reduced by value multiple of Kc and ignition advance angle is decreased. EFFECT: increased efficiency, reduced fuel consumption and improved engine performance. 7 cl, 1 dwg
