FIELD: transport engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of protection of road vehicles in case of collisions and it can be used in front and rear bumpers of trucks of different model. Proposed buffer connected to front and/or rear bumper of truck and mounted, respectively, lower than bumper, includes energy absorbing devices uniformly spaced lengthwise the bumper and connected to its support surface. Each device consists of two energy absorbing members, each made of length of metal rod and including bases, bridges and braces located in relatively perpendicular planes. Bases of energy absorbing members are connected to support surface, additional braces are connected to rear surface of movable bases of devices, and support plate is connected to lower section of main braces reinforced by additional section. Said plate engages with movable base. Each device is furnished with leaf springs and segments of shock absorbing foam material, wedge-shaped in cross section, and enclosed, each, in sealing envelope and connected to outer surface of movable bases. Proposed buffer includes outer casing with lip which are provided with relatively intersecting vertical and horizontal thin parts. Vertical thin parts adjoin side edges of energy absorbing devices, thus providing regulated destruction of casing and possibility of deformation in case of collision only that part of buffer which is exposed to impact.
