FIELD: mechanical engineering; printing industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to grabs designed for clamping flat articles, such as single-sheet and multi-sheet printed matter. Grab for clamping flat articles 21 is provided with two relatively turnable grab jaws 11, 12 clamping the article when closed. Actuating device providing turning of both grab jaws 11, 12 relative to each other acts onto at least one of grab jaws 11, 12. Step movement of actuating device provides change over from open position into closed position of grab jaws 11, 12 and back. Actuating device contain at least one movable part 18 which provides, owing to translational motion, power action on at least one of grab jaws 11, 12 selectively, in direction of open position or closed position. EFFECT: simplified design and control, improved reliability of article holding and accuracy of positioning of jaws in open and closed states. 12 cl, 11 dwg
