METHOD OF VISUALIZATION OF NAVIGATION CONDITIONS FOR SHIP NAVIGATION Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2207585 C2

FIELD: ship navigation, development of automatic steering gear. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method of visualization of navigation conditions for ship navigation electronic radar map of terrain in the form of sequence of radar images which centers of coordinates are found by means of satellite navigation system is created during control passage of ship along specified trajectory. Present radar images generated during passage of ship along specified trajectory which centers of coordinates are also obtained from satellite navigation system are superimposed on map. Comparison of match of present radar image and electron radar map of terrain is used to make decision on deviation of ship from preset route and on authenticity of information received from satellite navigation system and surveillance radar. Position of antenna of surveillance radar, coordinates of centers of radar images used for formation of electron radar map of terrain and center of present radar image are established by interface of surveillance radar with personal computer and hardware of satellite navigation system. EFFECT: increased precision and authenticity of displayed navigation information.
