FIELD: paper-and-pulp industry. SUBSTANCE: aqueous and nonaqueous sizing compositions have cellulose-reactive sizing agent, cationic compound with molecular weight up to 10000, and nonionic surfactant, which are dispersing agents. Cationic compound is cationic surfactant selected from primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary ammonium compounds containing at least one hydrocarbon group having 9-30 carbon atoms. Nonionic surfactant is polyalkylene oxide ether or ester, or their mixture. Cellulose-reactive sizing agent is ketene dimer. When preparing aqueous dispersion, above-defined water-free sizing composition is emulsified in presence of aqueous phase. In another case, water-free sizing composition containing cellulose- reactive sizing agent and cationic compound with molecular weight up to 10000 is emulsified in presence of aqueous phase containing nonionic surfactant.
