FIELD: instrumentation engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention specifically refers to measurement of level of filling liquid in canal by electromagnetic method, it can be used to measure level of current-conductive liquids flowing in free-surface pipe-lines. Method includes formation of electromagnetic field in canal of pipe-line by transmission of electric currents through two excitation coils having common axis. One coil is placed above pipe-line and the other coil is located under pipe-line. Later magnetic field is converted on basis of Faraday's law by moving flow of liquid to electric signal between two electrodes. Electrodes are arranged on surface of canal on horizontal line crossing axis of coils. Values of excitation currents are so chosen that signals at electrodes formed by magnetic field of each coil grow equal. Then value of filling level of canal is computed. Measure of filling level of canal is ratio of currents in coils. EFFECT: increased accuracy of measurement of filling level of canal in case of gravity flow. 4 cl, 3 dwg
