SUBSTANCE: composition comprises low-soluble or insoluble in water salt or mixture of salts of polyvalent metal taken in the amount 30.0-99.9 wt.-% that change color under conditions of steam sterilization and component-regulating agent taken in the amount 0.1-70.0 wt.-% allowing to regulate the rate of salt hydrolysis or mixture of salts of polyvalent metal. Polyvalent metal salts in composition are presented by iron, manganese, cobalt, copper and/or nickel salt or their mixture. Composition can comprise salts of alkaline, alkaline-earth metals: carbonates, phosphates, oxalates, sulfates, rhodanites, tartrates, borates, salts of dihydroxobenzoic acid. Invention provides express-control in the absence of formation of sulfur deposit on sterilized articles and possibility for regulation of time to provide the final color at required temperature.
