FIELD: varnish-and-paint industry. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used when preparing protective labels, ornamental coatings, and printing inks. Pigment represents multiplayer structure. Central nontransparent, completely reflecting pigment layer is prepared from corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy supported by flexible thin polymer material sheet. It is consecutively bilaterally coated by layers of dielectric with refraction index 1.65 or less and semitransparent, partially reflecting layers. Central layer is deposited using physical vapor precipitation technique and subsequent layers by physically or chemically precipitating vapors. Pigment can by further coated by additional protective transparent layers. After that, pigment is reduced to desired size. According to another embodiment of invention, plate made from corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy is reduced to required dimensions and covered as described above. Resulting multiplayer pigment is then detached from support. In order to obtain coating, pigment is mixed with binding agent and liquid solvent, binder is emulsified or distributed, emulsion is deposited onto suitable support and solidified.
