FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; heat treatment of rolled stock in pits at adjustable heating and cooling. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes charging metal fagot in pit at room temperature and preset temperature of medium, after which temperature of pit medium is raised to temperature of holding at heat in proportion to change of heat conductivity coefficient for this group of steel in fagot. Cooling is performed discontinuation of delivery of gas and switching-on forced supply of air to pit due to recirculation of gas combustion products till temperature of fagot unloading has been reached. EFFECT: reduced consumption of gas; increased productivity; stabilization of metal structure. 2 cl, 2 dwg
