FIELD: machine engineering, tools for plastic metal working, for example apparatuses for knurling outer cone thread on tubular blank. SUBSTANCE: head includes builtup housing, stem, mechanism for radial motion of thread knurling rollers whose eccentric axes are joined with rotary portion of housing through crank levers, pins and slide blocks; mechanism for returning rollers to initial position and mechanism for matching radial motion of thread knurling rollers with axial motion of blank during process of thread knurling. In order to work tubular blanks with relatively thin wall and large diameter, head is provided with supporting rod arranged along rotation axis of head and having one end rigidly joined with stem; spring-loaded sleeve; unclampable mandrel mounted on free end of supporting rod and having holder mounted on sleeve coaxially relative to it with possibility of rotation. Sleeve is fit onto supporting rod with possibility of moving along it and it is kinematically connected with rotary portion of housing through pin freely arranged in helical groove provided in rotary portion of head housing.
