FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: knurling head is intended for knurling of multistart spiral surfaces of various profiles on cylindrical billets. Knurling head is equipped with mechanism for automatic feed of rollers to depth of formed profile. It additionally includes friction mechanism of automatic feed of rollers, locator setting quantity of feed, device for automatic disengagement of friction mechanisms of automatic feed of rollers after completion of setting of quantity of feed to depth of formed profile. Body of head is sectional made of two rigidly coupled parts with split plane perpendicular to longitudinal axis of head. mechanism for automatic feed of rollers is manufactured in the form of casing with unbalanced inertial mass revolving relative to body of head and is provided with system of hinge coupled driving tie-rods with turn clutches placed eccentrically on pins of rollers. Head is equipped with locator of angular position of casing after setting of quantity of feed. EFFECT: improved quality of knurling. 4 cl, 10 dwg
