FIELD: well logging; applicable in detection of defects of pipe strings and perforation holes in electromagnetic flaw detection of drill, casing and tubing pipes located in wells. SUBSTANCE: downhole electromagnetic flaw detector has body, generator coil, differentially connected search coils removed from generator coil along device axis, electronics unit. Flaw detector has more than one pair of search coils pressed to well wall. Generator coil is made in form of solenoid with length exceeding two diameters of logged well. Magnetic axis of search coils is oriented perpendicular to flaw detector axis. EFFECT: effective detection of defects of strings and perforation holes in electromagnetic flaw detection of drill, casing and tubing pipes. 4 cl, 3 dwg
