FIELD: plastic metal working of magnesium alloys, possibly rolling sheets and plates of industrial magnesium alloys. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of heating slabs until rolling temperature in range 370 - 450 C; further hot rolling of them by several passes at tilting slabs at least after one pass between rolls having axial recess in their central zones with depth 0.2 - 0.8 mm and heated until 100 -170 C; after achieving deformation degree 10 -40 % performing reduction of lateral faces by means of edgers. EFFECT: enhanced quality of sheets and plates, their improved mechanical properties, absence of anisotropy and thickness non-uniformness along cross section of semifinished product having no surface slivers, camber and other flaws. 9 cl, 2 tbl, 5 ex
