FIELD: chemical industry; production of articles at low permeability working in oxidizing gas flows, abrasive-containing gaseous and liquid flows. SUBSTANCE: network is formed from carbon fibers at different center-to-center distances. Fibers are taken in the amount of 28-47.5% of volume of carbon composite material. Finely-dispersed carbon filler is introduced in the amount of 10-100 % of volume of carbon fibers. Then, saturation with pyro-carbon is performed by isothermal method to density of carbon composite material of 1.3- 1.68 kg/cu cm at temperature of 800-950 C and pressure of 6-10 mm Hg and content of hydrogen in pyrolysis gas of 5-15%. According to another version, network is impregnated after its forming with polymer binder at viscosity not exceeding 5 s. Finely- dispersed carbon filler is introduced before or during impregnation. Then carbon plate blank is molded, carbonized, subjected to high-temperature treatment and saturated with pyro-carbon as described above. Carbon composite material thus obtained includes network from carbon fibers at different center-to-center distance, 4-28 vol-%, no less than 23 vol-% of carbon matrix in form pyro-carbon. Total content of fibers and filler is no less than 44%. Material contains no more than 26vol-% of pores.
