FIELD: composite materials. SUBSTANCE: invention concerns manufacture of products operated in high-temperature, high-speed oxidative gas streams and in abrasive-bearing gas and liquid media. Method involves manufacturing framework based on carbon fibers of carbon composite blank composed of two layers, the principal one manifesting lowered reactivity towards liquid silicon and the surface one extremely high. Framework is formed as a single block relative to its thickness from carbon fibers uniform in their crystalline structure. Once thickness appropriate to form protective layer is composed, surface of carbon fibers is coated with ceramic slurry overlay 0.1-0.2 mm thick based on fine filler with particle size no larger than 10 mcm and/or with graphite foil having density 1.0-1.2 g/cu.cm and thickness 0.1-0.15 mm. Framework is formed to required thickness and sealed with pyrolyzed carbon using isothermal technique at reduced partial pressure on forming workholder, which closes access to carbon-containing gas from the side of protective layer. Framework can be impregnated with suspension of fine carbon filler with particle size no larger than 2 mcm, in particular of carbon powders or their mixtures with carbide-forming metals or nonmetals, and/or carbides, and/or nitrides. Method envisages preliminary impregnation of framework prior to sealing it with cokepolymer binder and pressure molding of carbon plastic blank followed by carbonization at final temperature 850-1000 C in an inert medium.
