FIELD: metallurgy; cast iron foundry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cast iron foundry, in particular, to development of compositions of the low-alloyed cast iron, that shall be working in conditions of intensive wear under high temperatures, used for manufacture of the valve seat castings of automobile engines. The modified cast iron contains carbon, silicon, manganese, chromium, molybdenum, copper, phosphorus, sulfur and iron. At that it is modified in a ladle by the complex modificator composed of 0.1-0.2 % of graphite and 0.4-0.8 % of FS65Ba4 and additionally contains a barium at the following ratio of components (mass %): carbon 3.5-3.9; silicon 2.5- 3.0; manganese 0.7-1.3; chromium 1.2-1.5; molybdenum 1.2-1.5; copper 0.7-1.2; phosphorus 0.3-0.6; sulfur - up to 0.1; a barium 0.01-0.04; iron - the rest. EFFECT: invention allows to produce cast irons with an optimal combination of high hardness, good mechanical workability, small-sized equally dispersed phosphide eutectic at high heat stability. 2 tbl
