DEVICE FOR CLEANING EXTERNAL SURFACES OF PIPES Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical cleaning of pipes; oil and gas industries; public services and water facilities. SUBSTANCE: proposed device includes frame, drive, wheel supports and cleaning units which are made in form of self-cleaning elastic deformation scrapers of plate shape secured on bases made in form of arc and mounted on endless chains laid along pipe to be cleaned; working edges of scrapers of each base form arc embracing part of circle of pipe being cleaned; some of them are concave and others are made in form of plough cutter at acute angle to axis of pipe being cleaned; some of working edges of scrapers are provided at both ends and are sharpened at angle of 10-15 deg. relative to surface being cleaned; they are loaded with plate-type spring. Wheel supports for keeping the pipe in horizontal position may be extended and fixed for pressing the pipes to scrapers. Device is provided with unit rotating the pipe around axis with cardan-type shaft set in motion from individual drive and tray for receiving products of cleaning process mounted on frame under endless chains.
