FIELD: iron alloys. SUBSTANCE: invention provides damping alloy and a method for manufacturing articles for vibration-loaded parts, e.g. for automobile transport, ironbased damping alloy containing following alloying elements: Cr, Mo, W, Al, Ni, V, Nb, Ti, Mn, Si, Ce, Y, and Mg in following proportions: no more than 25% of at least one element selected from Cr, Mo, and W; no more than 10% of at least one element selected from Al, V, Nb, Ti, and Si; no more than 5,0% of at least one element selected from Ni and Mg; no more than 0,20% of at least one element selected from Ce, Y, and Mg; insertion elements: C, N, and O in sum no more than 0.05%; total amount of alloying elements being at least 10%. Damping capacity of products from claimed alloy follows from expression: Q-1•103≥ 10-25, relative elongation δ% 15-25, and temporary rupture resistance σt 250-350 MPa. EFFECT: improved workability of alloy. 19 cl, 1 dwg, 2 tbl, 8 ex
