FIELD: pulse engineering; generating high-power current pulses for building up pulsed magnetic fields. SUBSTANCE: method includes building of constant magnetic field along its movement path, disposition of tube held in superconducting state collinearly to direction of magnetic field, and conversion of one of tube sections to resistive state. Device implementing proposed method has winding connected to power supply. Primary winding is made in the form of single continuous coil accommodating magnetic screen inside it which is made in the form of superconducting tube with one of its sections carrying additional winding connected to switch-mode current supply. For using energy of traveling magnetic wave device may be provided with secondary winding disposed inside or outside of screen and terminals for connection to load. Primary winding may be made of superconductor and secondary one, in the form of series-connected coils with alternating winding paths. One of device alternatives has its screen, primary and secondary windings forming nested anchor rings. EFFECT: provision for constant magnetic field propagation along assigned path at constant field gradient along propagation axis. 6 cl, 2 dwg
