FIELD: textile industry, in particular, primary processing of fibers. SUBSTANCE: layer forming machine has spreading table, conductors, toothed feeding disks, toothed receiving disks, overtime clutch, and thinning disks. Tray positioned downstream of spreading table is inclined to horizontal plane at an angle exceeding friction angle of stalk material against tray surface, said tray being joined with conductors, which define in conjunction with ridges and slots circles of feeding and receiving disks with constant volume zone. Toothed feeding disks are actuated by overtime clutch. Machine of such construction provides for improved uniformity of stalk layer at discharge end of layer forming mechanism with regard to density and orientation. Stalk safety is provided by reduced cross squeezing of layer during thinning and reducing of cross squeezing value and elimination of displacement of tooth top part transverse to stalks in dosing mechanism. EFFECT: minimized damage to stalks in layer forming machine, improved uniformity of stalk layer and provision for high-quality forming of stalk layer and, accordingly, increased yield of elongated fibers. 2 cl, 2 dwg
