CATHODE FOR ELECTROLYTICAL APPLYING OF NON-FERROUS METALS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2221089 C1

FIELD: electrolytical application of non-ferrous metals such as zinc, copper and other, particularly design of cathode in the form of aluminium plate used at production of zinc. SUBSTANCE: cathode includes base in the form of rectangular plate of aluminium, its alloy or similar material. At one short side cathode has on its end supporting rod; both long lateral edges of plate normal relative to said rod are covered with protective dielectric material. Said plate has groove that begins at least from one of its long edges; it is arranged directly near above mentioned rod at level of protective dielectric material and it is in contact with plate of horizontal separators designed for separating upper edge of deposited layers of non-ferrous metals. Height of said groove is more than width of separators. Insert of acid-resistant dielectric material is placed in said groove. Outer surfaces of insert are flat ones, they are laid in the same plane as plate and their shape coincides with that of groove. Plate has member preventing motion of insert inside groove; said member is in the form of -shaped cross section insert part whose lateral walls are inclined by angle 1 - 5 degrees relative to plane normal to base of insert. Groove that begins at least from one of long edges is in the form of recesses at both lateral sides of plates. Lateral walls of insert are rounded ones. Inserts are placed in groove with use of cement. Cathode is designed for applying zinc. EFFECT: increased useful life period of cathode due to more reliable joining of insert with cathode body, possibility for multiple change of inserts. 4 cl, 2 dwg
