FIELD: determination of concentration of osmium. SUBSTANCE: procedure is meant to establish concentrations of osmium in solutions, water, geological objects with the aid of kinetic and atomic-emission methods of determination with use of inductively-coupled plasma and to find isotopic composition of osmium with the use of mass spectrometry. Procedure detecting trace amount of osmium in natural and technological objects includes decomposition of analyzed sample, extraction of determined element from produced reaction mixture in presence of oxidizer into solution of absorber and subsequent detection of osmium by kinetic or spectrometric methods. Analyzed sample is decomposed in autoclave in mixture of H2SO4, H3PO4 and HF acids at temperature of 160-220 C, osmium is extracted is sealed double chamber diffusion cell with absorption and oxidizing chambers arranged one in another and containing correspondingly absorber and oxidizer. HCl or HBg or mixture of HCl and ascorbic acid are utilized in the capacity of absorber and sample for determination of osmium is taken from absorption chamber of diffusion cell.
