FIELD: petroleum processing and petrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: zeolite-containing catalyst comprising (i) zeolite selected from pentasil group with silica/alumina molar ratio 55-102 and residual sodium oxide content 0.02-0.07% and (ii) zinc, tin, and lanthanum oxides as zeolite structure elements and chromium oxide as promoter has following analysis, wt %: zeolite 65.0-80.0, ZnO 0.0-4.0, La2O3 0.0-0.8, SnO2 0.0-2.5, Cr2O3 0.0-5.0, Na2O 0.02-0.07, and binding component - the balance. Preparation of zeolite-containing catalyst involves hydrothermal synthesis of Na-form zeolite followed by salt ion exchange to give ammonium-form zeolite, which is modified with lanthanum, supplemented by chromium hydroxide to give catalyst paste to be further granulated, dried, and calcined at 550-600 C. Aliphatic hydrocarbons are converted into aromatic hydrocarbon concentrate or high-octane gasoline component by passing gaseous blend of low-molecular saturated hydrocarbons or straight- run gasoline fraction vapors through zeolite-containing catalyst bed.
