FIELD: processing and recovery of waste cables. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of pressing-in wedge-shaped disc cutters into cable sheath and lengthwise rolling around of cable by means of said cutters in parallel relative to surface of cable. Apparatus includes face chuck with follower tracks engaging with carriages carrying wedge-shaped disc cutters. Face chuck is mounted with possibility of rotation; plane of apex of each cutter wedge is parallel relative to axis of face chuck. EFFECT: simplified process of stripping cover and sheath of cable. 4 cl, 6 dwg
