FIELD: medicinal and veterinary microbiology. SUBSTANCE: as nitrogen source medium comprises the following base enriched with nutrient substances: powdered fish pancreatic hydrolyzate and casein pancreatic hydrolyzate and also: baking yeast extract, polymixin B sulfate, acriflavine, esculine, iron salt, lithium chloride, sodium chloride, agar-agar, nalidixic acid and distilled water. Indicating system (esculine + iron salt) provides easily detection of esculine hydrolysis by formation of black collar around listeria colony. The balance of component composition of medium provides the complete inhibition of concomitant microflora and provides also stability, high sensitivity of medium and effectiveness of listeria accumulation.
