Preparation of catalyst involves deposition of one or more halogen components on L-type zeolite followed by drying at the water vaporization rate 15 wt %/h or less. According to invention, catalyst can be prepared in such a way as to homogenously distribute halogen in order to reduce cracking power of catalyst.
